Ilene is the Director of the Community Engagement and Lifelong Learning (CELL)
Center at the University of the Virgin Islands. The CELL Center is engaged in
community and economic development through education in high demand occupations
providing a pool of employees to new and emerging businesses as well as re-tooling
employees to provide businesses with a competitive edge in the marketplace.
She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Farleigh-Dickinson University, an MS
Degree from New York University, a Masters Certificate in Project Management from
George Washington University, and a certificate in Leadership from the American
Association of State Colleges and Universities Millennium Institute.
Ms. Heyward serves on local and National Boards and has received numerous awards and
honors including being featured on the cover of Black Enterprise Magazine. She is
dedicated to serving others and helping them reach their goals.
